5 ways to revamp your skincare routine for summer
Just as the seasons change, our skincare routine also needs to adapt to the changing temperatures, humidity levels, sun exposure, and outdoor activities. Summer brings hot weather and more sunlight exposure, something we all crave for this time of the year. However, to maintain healthy and radiant skin, it is important to make some adjustments to your beauty routine. Here are some tips to help keep your skin healthy and glowing all summer long.
Include products with vitamin C
Research shows that vitamin C plays an important role in maintaining healthy skin because it helps stabilize free radicals and decrease skin damage caused by solar rays. The skin needs high concentrations of vitamin C, as it helps develop the skin barrier and collagen in the dermis (1). According to our dermatologist, Dr. Leyda Bowes, the ZELMA Brightening Serum from PIEL ETERNA contains a type of vitamin C that deeply penetrates the skin barrier, which is highly beneficial for the skin.
Although you already know this, it’s good to remind you how important it is. Every morning before leaving the house or going out for an outdoor activity, rigorously apply sunscreen. This season, the solar rays are at their maximum intensity, and we spend more time exposed. Make sure to use a minimum of SPF 40 sunscreen to avoid the effects that the sun causes on the skin, such as spots, burns, and, of course, wrinkles.
Our skin is the largest organ in the body and is constantly exposed to bacteria, chemicals, pollution, and many other things that can affect it. Clinical studies reveal that probiotics have special effects on the skin. They have a high potential for preventing and treating skin conditions such as eczema, dermatitis, acne, and skin damage caused by UV rays (2). A daily probiotic supplement can help your skin while also supporting your intestinal health.
Moisturize every day
Besides staying hydrated, and drinking more water and electrolytes, moisturizing face creams offer functional benefits for the skin, such as making it smoother. Additionally, they help provide the skin with the necessary vitamins and antioxidants (3). The PIEL ETERNA Moisturizing Face Cream helps reduce fine lines and wrinkles. Its antioxidant ingredients and peptides help stimulate collagen for a firmer, more youthful complexion.
Collagen is important
Several studies have revealed that skin collagen decreases with age. Collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and depends on the formation of collagenous tissue that gives elasticity to the skin (4). Fortunately, daily collagen supplements can help nourish your skin and your hair and nails as well. If you haven't started consuming it, now is a great time to start.
Summer is a wonderful time to renew your routine and make small changes that can be very beneficial. Having radiant and healthy skin is easier when following the advice of experts.
Let's be healthier together.
