Say Buh-Bye to Under-Eye Bags

No one likes puffy, dark circles under their eyes. While you can’t control some causes, such as age and genetics, you can take charge of other factors that will help reduce under-eye bags. Hint: It’s not just getting more sleep!

Rule #1: If it’s salty, it might make you feel salty in the morning when you look in the mirror!

Your diet has a bigger influence on your appearance than you might think. Avoid processed foods, because they are packed with sodium. They may taste good, but the sodium causes your body to retain water that will contribute to under-eye puffiness.

Rule #2: If you’re not drinking enough water, you may see some puff!

Drink at least 8 cups of water a day and more when you’re active or the weather is hot. Dehydration can aggravate the appearance of under-eye bags.

Rule #3: Try some Tea!

Try a tea-bag compress for an easy and inexpensive remedy. Choose a tea with caffeine and steep two bags as you would for drinking. Cool the bags in the refrigerator and then lay them under your eyes for 15 minutes. The caffeine in the tea can help constrict blood vessels under your eyes and reduce puffiness. Teas, especially green tea, also have helpful anti-inflammatory properties. (1)(2)
